The official broadcast and streaming partners of the Indian Premier League (IPL), JioStar, have organised a mock auction just a day prior to the official one taking place in Abu Dhabi.

JioStar called in 10 former Indian cricketers to represent the 10 franchises: Gujarat (Cheteshwar Pujara), Delhi (Mohammad Kaif), Bengaluru (Anil Kumble), Punjab (Sanjay Bangar), Rajasthan (Aakash Chopra), Chennai (Suresh Raina), Kolkata (Robin Uthappa), Abhinav Mukund (Mumbai), Hyderabad (S Badrinath) and Lucknow (Irfan Pathan).

The biggest surprise of the mock auction was Rahul Chahar going for INR 10 crore. The leg-spinner hadn’t earned more than INR 5.25 crore before and went for nearly double as Chennai bagged him as Ravichandran Ashwin’s replacement.

As expected, Cameron Green and Liam Livingstone were the most expensive buys, with Matheesha Pathirana and Ravi Bishnoi also going over INR 10 crore each. David Miller also joined their league as the fifth most expensive buy.
