Opening the innings with KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal looked great out in the middle, and he played with great intent. Jaiswal didn’t face any troubles while batting against Chris Woakes, Josh Tongue, Brydon Carse, Ben Stokes, and Shoaib Bashir.

He built a 91-run opening partnership with KL Rahul, which was the fourth highest in Indian cricket history in the first innings of the first Test of an away tour.

Even after losing his opening partner in the 25th over, he kept going strong and set his eyes on a big score. He completed his fifty off 96 balls and a ton off 144 balls. Jaiswal showcased an off-side masterclass during his innings, as only 9 of his first 100 runs were scored on the leg side.

After reaching the three-figure mark, Jaiswal was absolutely delighted, and he celebrated aggressively. He also received a standing ovation from the crowd and the Indian dressing room.

Meanwhile, on the third ball of the 53rd over, Ben Stokes picked a big wicket for his side by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal. He bowled a length delivery from a wide angle, and Jaiswal went for a drive down the ground.

The ball nipped away to beat the outside edge of Jaiswal’s bat and hit the stumps to send the batter packing for 101 runs off 159 balls, with 16 fours and 1 six.
