Aniket Verma Catch Of Rahul Tewatia

Aniket Verma, on Friday (May 2), pulled off an outstanding catch to send back Rahul Tewatia during the ongoing game between the Gujarat Titans and the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The left-handed batsman walked out to bat in the final over of the Gujarat Titans innings after Jaydev Unadkat dismissed Washington Sundar on the second ball. On the very first ball he faced from Unadkat, Rahul Tewatia hit a six.

Unadkat failed to bowl the yorker properly and ended up bowling a full toss on the leg side. The ball was there to be hit, and Rahul Tewatia duly obliged. He sat down and played a lap shot to hit the ball over fine leg for a six.

It was followed by a dot delivery before Aniket Verma pulled off the brilliant catch. On the fifth ball of the over, Unadkat bowled a slower delivery well outside the off stump. Rahul Tewatia went for a big shot but ended up slicing the ball towards the offside.

The ball was looking destined to fall in the no-man’s land behind the deep backward point. However, Aniket Verma had other ideas. The SRH batsman charged towards the ball and made a timely dive before catching the ball with both hands.

Unadkat went on to finish the over with a wicket as well, dismissing Rashid Khan on the final ball of the innings. The left-arm pacer finished the innings with figures of 3 for 35 off 4 overs.

Gujarat Titans end on a gigantic total

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans have finished their innings on a mammoth 224/6 after Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl first. Captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan gave their team a good start by adding 87 runs for the first wicket before the latter departed for 48.

It was followed by a 62-run stand between Gill and Jos Buttler. The partnership came to an end when Gill was run out. The Gujarat skipper departed after scoring 76 runs from just 38 balls. Buttler went on to complete a fine fifty as well, scoring 64 runs off just 37 balls.
