Shubman Gill missed VHT game for Punjab

India have taken extra care ahead of the decisive ODI in Indore by focusing on off-field details, according to an NDTV report. The Board of Control for Cricket in India wants to avoid any health risks, and captain Shubman Gill brought a specialized water purification machine worth nearly Rs 3 lakh with the team.

Indore has recently come under attention due to a contaminated water crisis that led to the deaths of 24 people in the Bhagirathpura area. Meanwhile, the ODI series between India and New Zealand is tied 1-1, with the third and final match scheduled to be played at the Holkar Stadium on Sunday, January 17.

Shubman Gill Takes Extra Safety Measures Ahead of Indore ODI

Ahead of the crucial match, India have taken extra steps to avoid any health risks in Indore. According to NDTV, captain Shubman Gill brought a specialized water purification machine worth nearly Rs 3 lakh with him.

The report added that the team is staying at a five-star hotel, but Gill still chose to install the device inside his personal room. The machine can re-purify even RO-treated and packaged bottled water.

“Team India is staying at a five-star hotel in Indore, but NDTV has learned from hotel sources that captain Shubman Gill has brought along a specialised water purification machine worth nearly Rs 3 lakh. The device is capable of re-purifying even RO-treated and packaged bottled water. Gill has reportedly had the machine installed inside his personal hotel room,” the report read.

Team Management Declines Comment as India Take Extra Water Safety Measures

The Indian team’s media manager refused to comment on the precaution and did not say whether it was linked to the recent contaminated water deaths in Indore or part of a routine safety measure.

Even though the hotel and stadium provide safe drinking water through RO systems and packaged bottles, India have chosen to take extra care.

This level of caution is not new for the Indian dressing room. Virat Kohli is known for his strict fitness habits and close focus on hydration.

One of Kohli’s long-standing health routines includes drinking Evian Natural Spring Water imported from France, showing his continued focus on off-field health and discipline.

Shubman Gill’s Impressive Indore Record Boosts India’s Hopes

Shubman Gill has made steady starts in the first two ODIs with back-to-back half-centuries but has not yet converted them into a big score. The third ODI in Indore could give him the perfect chance to do so.

Gill has an excellent record at the Holkar Cricket Stadium. He has played two ODI matches at the venue and scored a century in both. The opener has scored 216 runs there at an average of 108, with a strike rate of over 120.

New Zealand will be well aware of the challenge he presents. The India team management will once again depend on their captain’s strong record at the ground. If Gill gets set early, India’s task in this high-pressure match could become much easier.
