Punjab Kings (PBKS) are hosting the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 58th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
Both Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals have officially revealed the names of the impact players, who have been nominated for the high-voltage IPL 2025 match on Thursday, May 8.

PBKS are currently placed third on the points table with 15 points in 11 games, and they are very close to booking a spot in the playoffs, while DC are at the fifth position with 13 points in 11 matches.
Both teams have been part of washout games in IPL 2025, with one denying Punjab Kings a potential win and the other handing Delhi Capitals a lifeline. The highest run-scorer for both teams is a wicketkeeper-batsman – Prabhsimran Singh and KL Rahul – and the leading wicket-taker of the teams is a left-arm pacer – Arshdeep Singh and Mitchell Starc.
The similarities end there as Delhi Capitals are nearing do-or-die territory in the race to the playoffs, as they have lost three of their last five games, while Punjab Kings are flying high.
DC’s biggest area of concern has been their batting department, as they are yet to find a perfect opening pair, and the form of KL Rahul has gone downhill. The bowling unit of DC is more than capable of getting the job done, with the addition of T Natarajan acting as a major boost.
Talking about Punjab Kings, they have an amazing batting unit, which is quite settled, and all the batters know their role very well. Indian batters Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya, Shreyas Iyer, Nehal Wadhera, and Shashank Singh have been doing heavy lifting so far, and the foreigners might soon join the party.
The Arshdeep Singh-led bowling unit has also been doing a great job and making sure to keep the opposition quiet in most of the games. Talking about the head-to-head record, PBKS hold a slight 17-16 edge over DC, but the Delhi Capitals lead Punjab Kings 5-2 since IPL 2021.
IPL 2025: Punjab Kings win the toss and opt to bat
Speaking at the toss, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer said that they made the decision to bat considering the outfield. He stated:
“We’ll bat first considering the outfield. The fans are happy with the decision.”
Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel said that they were anyway looking to field first in the match. He said:
“We would have fielded first because of the weather.”
