IPL 2025: SRH vs DC Match Interrupted By Rain, What Will Happen If There’s A Washout?

The first innings of the match between SRH and DC went quite smoothly, and the Axar Patel-led side played all their 20 overs, posting 133/7 on the board.

However, heavy rain has interrupted the match, and the start of the second innings has been delayed. Things are not looking good at the moment as the rain seems quite heavy and a washout is on the cards. Tiny puddles have also started to appear across the outfield.

SRH are currently at the ninth spot in the IPL points table with three wins in 10 matches and a Net Run Rate of -1.192, while DC are at the fifth position with six wins in 10 games and a Net Run Rate of 0.362.

If there is a washout, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be knocked out of the competition, as they can only reach a maximum of 13 points if they win the remainder of their three matches.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals will reach 13 points after the washout, and with three matches remaining, they can still qualify for the playoffs even if they win two matches.

The role with Hemang Badani is more to do with managing – Matthew Mott

Speaking ahead of the match in a video shared on IPL’s website, DC assistant coach Matthew Mott said that he has enjoyed his new role after serving as head coach for over a decade. He said:

“It is a really good question. It is a fresh ice for me, with me being a head coach for around 15 years. I have actually enjoyed this role. The role with Hemang Badani is more to do with managing.

“Like it is managing up and sideways, and a lot more in selection. I have really enjoyed the different perspective of being an assistant coach. I can lift my eyes and coach several individuals in more intimidating ways. It has been a good fun.”

We are looking at the reset button now – Matthew Mott

Matthew Mott further said that they are looking to reset the button after performing poorly in the last few matches. He added that they will treat all their remaining matches in the IPL 2025 as a semi-final.

“Once again, we have had a couple of days off to reflect. We are looking at the reset button now. We were off to a flyer, but have gone down the radar a bit. The expectations went up. We are trying to address it.

“For us, every game is in isolation, expecting a lot of crowd tonight. It was beautiful driving into the stadium. A lot of Orange there. Hopefully, we can keep them quiet with a good performance. It is a must-win match for us; we know it, every game from here on is like a semi-final,” he said.
