The game between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians on May 11 has been shifted from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad. On Wednesday, the Indian government decided to close down airports, including the one in Dharamsala, following Operation Sindoor. The Indian Armed Forces launched coordinated attacks on 9 locations in Pakistan and PoK, targeting sites that were harbouring terrorists.
PBKS vs MI tie shifted
PBKS were set to lock horns with MI in Dharamsala on May 11. However, the closure of the airport at the venue till May 10 had left MI in a lurch, with their travel plans taking a hit. Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel confirmed to news agency PTI that the tie has been shifted.
On Wednesday, a report claimed that the BCCI was eyeing to schedule the PBKS vs MI clash at the DY Patil stadium or the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai. PBKS are set to take on DC on May 8 in Dharamsala, with both sides already present at the venue. However, now, both DC and PBKS will have to travel to Delhi and Ahmedabad respectively. Both sides have matches on May 11.
PBKS Matches Affected
Meanwhile, this could be a setback for the PBKS side, since Dharamsala was their home ground. While the other teams would get that edge, they would have to contend playing away matches, due to the current circumstances. Having said that, the Shreyas Iyer-led team is in a good position to make the playoffs, since they have won 7 in 11 matches, and are on 15 points.
Another win would ensure that they sail through, and would like to finish in top 2 only. For now, they are in third position, behind GT and RCB.
