IPL 2025 Captains

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to face a massive loss with the suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. As per the reports in Hindustan Times, it is learned that every cancelled match is estimated to cost between ₹100 and ₹125 crore.

The reports claimed that even if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) takes insurance, the loss translates to half that amount when broadcast, sponsorship, and other match-related incomes are taken into consideration. This means that it might have put the governing body in a spot of bother as well.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly told the franchises to be in a state of readiness for an early resumption of the tournament. There were some reports in ESPNCricinfo that stated that the IPL 2025 would resume in May itself.

The BCCI is looking at three possible venues in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad for the rest of the IPL 2025 as a part of the plan if the Indian government gives the nod to resume the tournament. Hence, if it starts early, then it will possibly make up for the loss.

The IPL 2025 was marred by massive development when the tournament was suspended amid the war between India and Pakistan. The league was postponed for one week amid the tensions, and the decision was taken following the game between the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals.

The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals took place at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. After the 10.1 overs in the first innings, the game was called off as the Pathankot region saw a massive attack by Pakistan forces.

BCCI will face a massive loss if the IPL 2025 gets completely scrapped

But if the IPL gets completely scrapped, then the BCCI will face a massive loss. If it happens, the host broadcasters stand to surrender an estimated third of the ₹5,500-crore advertisement revenue they would have pencilled in.

Not only this, the franchises will also face a massive loss. But the major loss bearer will be the IPL central pool, which includes broadcast and sponsorship rights, and will feel the pinch a lot more than the others. It remains to be seen when the league will resume for the remaining 16 matches.
