Indian Premier League (IPL) teams’ travel plans are affected due to the ongoing “Operation Sindoor” and related security measures in India-Pakistan border states. Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC), who were already in Dharamsala for their match, and other teams are set to travel to the city.
Several airports near the India-Pakistan border, including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot, have been closed until 5:30 AM IST on May 10. In response, multiple airlines have suspended operations and issued advisories regarding the travel disruptions.
No Postpone Expected for Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings IPL Match Unless…
Punjab Kings is set to host Delhi Capitals at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on May 8. The two teams are already in Dharamsala for the upcoming match. According to the Times of India, the match will go as per schedule unless the Indian government makes any changes.
Punjab and Delhi have not received any updates from the BCCI regarding the ongoing travel situation. However, Mumbai Indians’ travel plans are likely to be affected. The Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians team is currently in Mumbai after their match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Tuesday.
Delhi Airport is the Only Option for IPL Teams Amid Travel Disruptions
According to the Times of India, the IPL teams and the BCCI are looking into alternative travel options due to the closure of Dharamsala airport and nearby airports in Amritsar and Chandigarh.
With Chandigarh airport shut, the teams may have to travel from Delhi by road. The official added that they are monitoring government advisories and will make decisions accordingly.
“We will have to wait and watch for now. There is no option because even Chandigarh airport is shut so we need to see what can be done. Two teams are already here and MI were supposed to arrive later this week for their match on May 11. The nearest option is the Delhi airport but that would mean a long road journey for the teams. We are tracking government advisories and will take the call as necessary,” said a senior BCCI official.
Gujarat Titans Defeat Mumbai Indians by Three Wickets in IPL 2025 Clash
On Tuesday night, Gujarat Titans defeated Mumbai Indians by three wickets in a thrilling match at Wankhede Stadium.
Gujarat won the toss and chose to bowl first and restricted Mumbai to 155/8 in 20 overs. Will Jacks (53 from 35 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (35 from 24 balls) added a 71-run partnership. Sai Kishore was the best bowler for Gujarat, taking 2/34.
In response, Gujarat Titans had a shaky start but recovered with a 72-run partnership between captain Shubman Gill (43 from 46 balls) and Jos Buttler (30 from 27 balls). A rain delay in the 14th over, with Gujarat ahead on the DLS Method, interrupted the game.
After the break, Mumbai bowlers Jasprit Bumrah (2/19) and Trent Boult (2/22) fought back, reducing Gujarat to 132/6. Another rain break followed, and the revised target was set at 147 runs in 20 overs. Rahul Tewatia (11*) and Gerald Coetzee (12) secured the win for Gujarat, finishing the game on the last ball.
