In a latest development, Sri Lanka Cricket has announced that former India fielding coach R Sridhar will conduct a comprehensive 10-dat fielding program, to improve the overall skills of the players. As per a report in Dailymirror.ik, the training program is set to being on May 7, that will not only have the senior men’s team, but also the women’s team, emerging teams, club teams, and also the U-19 and A sides.
Sridhar is a BCCI level 3 certified coach, who was associated with the Indian team between 2014 and 2021, and coached the team in over 300 international matches. Meanwhile, the report also suggests that the coach will also engage with the National High Performance centre and the club coaches.
This could go a long way in further developing the standards of the Sri Lankan teams, especially that of the women’s team, who beat India in one of the matches of the Tri-series, involving South Africa as well. In the match played at Colombo on Sunday, the Chamari Athapaththu-led team beat Harmanpreet Kaur’s India by 3 wickets.
The Indian team went on to score a decent 275, but fifties from Harshitha Samarawickrama and Nilakshi De Silva changed the course of the match. There were valuable contributions from the likes of Kavisha Dilhari, Vishmi Gunaratne and Anushka Sanjeevani.
