As the military tensions between India and Pakistan grow, the PCB decided to hots the remainder of PSL in the UAE. But the hopes of that happening have suffered a huge dent. THE Emirates Cricket Board, it seems, is wary of the repercussions of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, and don’t want to take any chances.
The PCB had earlier stated, that the remaining PSL X matches in Rawalpindi, Multan, and Lahore happen in UAE. But as per a source, the ECB isn’t granting PCB the permission. “The UAE has a diverse South Asian population which enjoys cricket. Hosting a tournament like the PSL in the midst of such tense circumstances could vitiate harmony, pose security risks and stir unnecessary friction between communities,” the source said.
It is important to note, that not only ECB has hosted tournaments for India, but is a preferred destination for the BCCI, apart from home destinations. Having said that, the official confirmation about the same is yet to come. On the other hand, the BCCI has also suspended the IPL 2025 for a week.
The decision came after the PBKS vs DC match in Dharamsala was abruptly stopped, due to security reasons. Now, it remains to be seen, when does the tournament restart, and if at all, it takes place in India.
