Ben Stokes Harry Brook

Harry Brook has been appointed as the new captain of England’s ODI and T20I teams, taking over from Jos Buttler, who stepped down after the team’s early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 last month in Pakistan. The England Cricket Board announced Brook’s appointment on April 7.

Brook, known for his explosive batting and cool-headed leadership, has been a key part of England’s white-ball setup since his debut in January 2022. The talented batter, who is currently ranked No. 2 in the ICC Test batting rankings, has also served as the vice-captain in both formats over the past year.

He also led England in the ODI series against Australia last September in Jos Buttler’s absence, where he impressed many with his calm and smart decision-making. Brook also captained the England U-19 side during the 2018 World Cup in New Zealand.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in an official statement, “Yorkshire batter Harry Brook has been appointed as the new captain of the England Men’s white-ball teams. Brook succeeds Jos Buttler, who stepped down from the role following England’s early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy last month in Pakistan.”
