Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu recently found himself in hot water after posting a controversial peace message on social media amidst the high tension between India and Pakistan. Just hours after Pakistani missile and drone attacks hit cities like Jalandhar, Jammu, and Pathankot, Ambati Rayudu took to X and wrote, “An eye for an eye makes the world blind.”
It was a call for peace that quickly backfired as many netizens slammed Rayudu for poor timing, calling his post insensitive while the country faced a grave national crisis. Social media erupted with furious reactions, with some users even dragging up old controversies.

His original post reads that he later deleted after facing backlash: “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Let’s remember — this isn’t a call for weakness but a reminder of wisdom. Justice must stand firm but never lose sight of humanity. We can love our nation fiercely and still hold compassion in our hearts. Patriotism and peace can walk hand in hand.”
Later, in a series of social media posts, the former Indian batter has hailed the Indian Army for protecting the country and admitted that peace can’t come at the cost of dignity. Rayudu has issued a clarification over his recent post that triggered backlash on social media.
My comments were misunderstood: Ambati Rayudu
Breaking his silence on his “eye for an eye” post, Rayudu said that his words were misunderstood and he fully supports the Indian government’s Operation Sindoor. The former Indian batter also made it clear that he stands firmly with the brave Indian Army and shared the feelings of every Indian citizen in this critical time, as the tension between India and Pakistan worsened.
Ambati Rayudu posted, X: “I’d like to clarify a recent comment I made regarding the border situation, which appears to have been misunderstood. That was never my intention, and I would like to set the record straight. In these sensitive times, I stand with our government—under the decisive leadership of Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji—taking strong action through #OperationSindhoor. I stand firmly with our brave #IndianArmy and wholeheartedly share the sentiments of my fellow citizens. Jai Hind. Jai Bharat.”

India lost Rafale and Mirage 2000 in the war with Pakistan
Notably, India has reportedly lost two powerful fighter jets — a Rafale and a Mirage 2000 — during its strikes on Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), as reported by The Washington Post. In the last war, India had lost only one fighter jet in 2019.
Pakistan claimed it shot down five Indian jets, but India hasn’t confirmed or denied this. Debris from the two jets seen in the viral social media pictures and video matched the Indian Air Force models, but officials have not yet commented on the reports.
