Just 15 group stage matches remain in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Three teams, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, have already been knocked out. Now the remaining seven are contending to reach the IPL 2025 Playoffs. Going forward, each match is important.

Rain interruption expected in MI vs GT match

Last night, we saw rain knock Sunrisers out. That won’t be the case today as Mumbai Indians (MI) face off Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Wankhede Stadium. Neither are in elimination threat, but rain is likely to play a role in the match. Weather reports suggest that there’s about a 25% chance of rain between 7 and 10 PM IST in Mumbai.

We saw in Hyderabad what even an hour of rain can do. If it rains heavily, the MI vs GT match may not even happen. But the real question is, how would the IPL 2025 playoffs scenario change if the game is washed out?

IPL 2025 Playoffs Scenario in case off washout

For starters, MI and GT’s final four chances would improve. More so for GT, as they will have three matches left. Punjab Kings (PBKS), who were at an advantage due to that rained-off game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will move down from number two on the points table to number four. The net run rate (NRR) won’t change, so that bodes well for GT and MI since they are ahead of others in that department.
